Author's Purpose:
Writer's have 4 main reasons for writing:
1. To entertain - narrative writing entertains the reader by telling a story; usually fiction but not always
2. To persuade - persuasive writing tries to convince the reader to think a certain way, believe something, or act the way the writer wants
3. To inform - informative writing teaches the reader something by providing facts and details about a topic; non-fiction
4. To describe - descriptive writing is very detailed and uses adjectives and adverbs to make the topic/object being described vivid for the reader
